Entry requirements

The Master of Science degree in Advanced Dental Implantology is open to UK, EU and International dentists*.​

The following entry requirements for the pathway apply:

UK dentists must:

- Hold full GDC registration

- Have a minimum of 2 years experience as a dentist in hospital or practice

- Hold full indemnity

- Have a current DBS certificate

- Hold a current certificate of CPR training 

- Have proof of your Hepatitis B status

- Have no conditions on your General Dental Council registration that could affect your ability to treat patients 

- If choosing the Treat Own Patients option**, have sufficient patients to treat for the Clinical Cases requirement

 

EU and International dentists must:

- Be a fully qualified dentist

- Have a high level of competency in English (please see below) if English is not your first language

- Currently be working in practice or hospital 

- Have a minimum of 2 years experience as an implant dentist in hospital or practice

- Have independently treated a minimum of 20 dental implant cases

- Have sufficient patients to treat for the Clinical Cases requirement

Language requirements:

 

All applicants are required to demonstrate competency in English at a high level before commencing the programme; students whose first language is not English must be able to satisfy the requirements below.

IELTS Academic: Overall score of 7.0 (a minimum of 7.0 in Listening, Writing and Speaking; 6.5 in Reading)
TOEFL Internet: Overall score of 100 (a minimum of 25 in each individual component)
CAE: Grade A or B (with at least 193 in each individual element) plus a Language Centre assessment
CPE: Grade A, B, or C (with at least 200 in each individual element)

Delegates must achieve a grade of 60% or more in each Part 1 module to allow continuation into Part 2.  

Part 1 is delivered by the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology

Part 2 is delivered by the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology in collaboration with Aston University

After successful completion of Part 2, the Master of Science degree in Advanced Dental Implantology is awarded by Aston University, allowing use of the postnominals MSc (Dent Imp)

* The Beginner Pathway with Provided Patients is only available to UK dentists.  International dentists must be on the Experienced Practitioner Pathway

** The Experienced Practitioner Pathway is only open to experienced implant dentists, who have independently treated a minimum of 20 full implant cases and have at least 2 years experience in dental implantology.  This option is available to experienced  implant dentists in the UK and internationally.  On this pathway, case reports must be submitted for 6 implant cases before the last day of Year 1 (30 June 2025)

A grade of 60% or more is required in all modules of the Part 1 program to allow continuation into Part 2
